Galleries and art in Corfu

Corfu has been painted, carved and collected for centuries, and the results hang in palaces, old churches and tiny side street galleries. Start in Corfu Town with Asian treasures in the old palace, glowing icons near the sea walk and the island's own painters at the Municipal Gallery, then drive out to the National Gallery annex in Kato Korakiana. Walk in slowly, look up often and let the island show you how it sees itself.

Desk What we checked

Every place was checked on 4 October 2026 on its official site or the Ministry of Culture Odysseus portal; where a page could not be opened directly we read a search engine copy, and each source says which. Hours and prices appear only where an official or Ministry page states them, with the date read. Descriptions are in our own words. Nothing is taken from Google or Tripadvisor.

Still to check

  • Old Fortress exhibition spaces (Byzantine Collection, Latin Chapel) and the Museum of Palaiopolis at Mon Repos are listed on the Ministry of Culture portal but were not checked.
  • Angelos Giallinas house gallery: mentioned only in painter biographies, with no official site or visiting details found.
  • Street art: no reliable documented source was found, so no mural spots are listed.
  • Greek names for the National Gallery Corfu Annex, the Antivouniotissa Museum and the Capodistrias Museum were not read, so we leave them out rather than guess.
