Where to stay on Corfu: areas and prices

Corfu is an island of very different coasts: calm pebble coves on the east, open sandy bays and sunsets on the west, a family north and a party tip in the south. Pick the coast first, then the bed.

Corfu Town

Suits: First visits without a car, culture, food and short breaks, and anyone travelling outside summer.

Character: The UNESCO listed Old Town: Venetian forts, a mainly neoclassical townscape, the Liston and the Spianada. The most cafes, bars and restaurants on the island, open the longest.

Getting about: Most of the island's beaches are within a 30 to 50 minute drive of town and the airport.

Prices: Lowest typical hotel rate in HotelMonitor's early September 2026 scan: £99 a night (cheapest fifth of hotels, two adults).

North east coast and Kassiopi

Suits: Couples, families with small children, swimmers who like calm water, and boat days.

Character: Gouvia, Dassia, Ipsos, Barbati, Nissaki, Kalami, Agni and Kassiopi. Sheltered pebble coves and calm, shallow water facing Albania and the mainland. Kalami is Durrell country, and the three tavernas at Agni are reached by car or boat. Dassia is a good beach for water sports.

Getting about: Water taxis link Agni with Kalami, Nissaki and nearby coves.

Prices: No published zone price found for this coast. Use the island figures below.

Sidari, Roda and Acharavi

Suits: Families who want sand and shallow water, and good value in summer.

Character: The long north shore. HotelMonitor calls Sidari the classic family resort, with wide sandy beaches, calm shallow water at the Canal d'Amour and plenty of mid range hotels. Acharavi's beach runs for several kilometres towards Roda.

Getting about: HotelMonitor notes it is well served by summer charter flights into Corfu airport. Check your transfer time before you book.

Prices: Peak season about £110 to £125 a night (HotelMonitor resort comparison). Lowest typical rate in the early September 2026 scan: £69.

Paleokastritsa and the north west

Suits: Couples, snorkellers and divers, walkers, and anyone after scenery over nightlife.

Character: Six beaches in three bays under high, wooded cliffs, with cold, very clear water. Further north the clifftop village of Afionas looks over Agios Georgios Pagon, a two kilometre sandy bay, and Arillas faces the sunset.

Getting about: About 22 km from town, with a bus Santorini Dave describes as hourly in season. Allow 35 to 45 minutes by car.

Prices: Peak season about £135 to £160 a night in a quality hotel (HotelMonitor resort comparison).

West coast: Glyfada, Pelekas and Agios Gordios

Suits: Families who want sand, sunset lovers, and older children who like a bit of surf.

Character: Long sandy bays open to the sea, so there is more swell and wind in the afternoons. Glyfada is a Blue Flag beach that Santorini Dave rates the best family beach on the island; Agios Gordios has golden sand and the Ortholithi rock.

Getting about: Glyfada is about 15 to 16 km from town. Public buses serve several west coast beaches in season, more often from June to early September.

Prices: No published zone price found. Use the island figures below.

Character: Benitses has a Blue Flag beach on the east coast road. On the west side, Issos and Halikounas are long sandy beaches backed by dunes beside the Korission Lagoon. Kavos, at the tip, is known as a party resort for 18 to 25 year olds.

Getting about: Check bus times for the south before you book if you will not have a car.

Prices: Kavos is the cheapest of the main resorts even in peak season, about £85 to £100 a night (HotelMonitor). Lowest typical rates in the early September 2026 scan: Kavos £55, Messonghi £73.
