Parking in Corfu

The short answer: in Corfu Town, leave the car at the edge of the centre and walk 10 to 15 minutes; in August, do not try to drive into the Old Town in the evening; at the airport, the official car park is free for the first 20 minutes. Below are the car parks with their prices, the rules of the street lines and the beaches that fill up, each with its source and the date we read it.

Checked on 6 October 2026. Prices change with the season and many figures come from directories, blogs or visitor reports rather than the car parks themselves: we say which, and we list what we could not confirm at the end. Driving a hire car? See Getting Around.

Why parking is hard

The historic centre is full in August

The Deputy Mayor warns that in August parking in the historic centre is limited and full, so trying to drive in will most likely fail; visitors should use peripheral car parks such as the large municipal Lyriko site at the southern entrance or the Ionian University area at Pallada in the north.

In short: park at the edge and walk 10 to 15 minutes

Summer evenings: keep the car out of the Old Town

Corfu Traffic Police, the municipality and the Chamber advised drivers in August 2026 not to approach the Old Town by car from 19:00 to 23:00 and to go straight to peripheral car parks; a QR code digital parking guide was issued.

In short: avoid the Old Town by car 19:00 to 23:00 in August

The Old Town is closed to most cars

Rental companies tell visitors the Old Town is closed to cars except residents and deliveries with a permit, and that others risk a fine.

In short: residents and permitted deliveries only (rental company guidance, not an official notice)

Residents park far from home

The Old Town residents' association told the mayor that in summer cars of short let guests, shop owners and staff fill every corner of the Old Town (Kofineta, Kampiello, Spilia, Lemonia, Agioi Pateres, Porta Remounda), pushing residents to park up to 1.5 km away.

In short: residents park up to 1.5 km away in summer

Narrow streets

A local rental firm notes the historic centre was not designed for modern traffic and many streets are narrow, pedestrianised or restricted; parking is hardest in July and August, at Easter, on cruise ship days and in early evening.

Busy resorts and beaches

Parking is most challenging in Corfu Town, Paleokastritsa, Canal d'Amour, Kassiopi, Glyfada and popular sunset beaches, especially in July and August; it is easier in spring and autumn.

Street parking: the colour of the lines

White lines, blue lines

The same rental company guidance says white lines mean free parking with no time cap, while blue line paid parking is capped at 3 hours; tickets typically cost 40 to 80 euros, payable at a post office or via the municipal website.

In short: white free; blue paid, max 3 hours; fines 40 to 80 euros (unofficial)

Questions

How much does parking cost at Corfu airport?

The official car park outside the terminal has 150 spaces and is open 24 hours a day. It is free for the first 20 minutes, then 5 euros up to an hour, 12 euros for 5 to 24 hours and 18 euros for one to two days, plus 6 euros for each extra day, according to the airport's own parking page, read on 6 October 2026.

Where should I park to visit Corfu Old Town?

Park at the edge of town and walk. The municipality lists 11 car parks, all 10 to 15 minutes on foot from the historic centre, and warns that in August the centre is full. In August 2026 the traffic police and the municipality also advised drivers to keep away from the Old Town by car from 19:00 to 23:00.

Is street parking free in Corfu Town?

White lines are free and blue lines are paid, with a three hour limit, according to a car hire company's guide of May 2026. We found no official tariff for paid street parking on the municipality's site, so check the signs where you park.
