The winter theatre season
Greek theatre is busiest in winter, when the summer venues close and the city stages take over. In Corfu Town, the Nobile Teatro di San Giacomo opened in 1720 as the first theatre in what later became Greece. It staged opera from 1733 to 1893, and in 1903 its building became the town hall. Most productions are in Greek, so check before booking if that matters to you.

Municipal Regional Theatre of Corfu (DIPETHE Kerkyras)
The island's public theatre company, founded in 1997. It produces plays, runs education and community work, and stages winter shows at the Municipal Theatre and summer shows at the Rena Vlachopoulou open air theatre at Mon Repos.

Municipal Theatre of Corfu
The town's main indoor stage, used in 2026 for DIPETHEK productions, a Philharmonic Society band concert and touring plays. An upgrade study is in the regional programme 2021 to 2027.

Philharmonic Society of Corfu (the Old Philharmonic, Palaia)
The island's oldest philharmonic band society. Its own events hall hosts chamber music series such as the Sunday Music Mornings, and its bands play across town.

Band society founded in 1890 with a music school and its own events hall; in 2026 it played the Municipal Theatre, Mon Repos and Faliraki and staged a children's musical in its hall.
