Free Things to Do
Corfu rewards anyone willing to walk. These are the things that genuinely cost nothing, with the official source where there is one.
Free admission days at state museums and sites
Entry to every state run archaeological site, monument and museum in Greece is free on these dates, and that includes the ones here on Corfu: 6 March, in memory of Melina Mercouri; 18 April, International Monuments Day; 18 May, International Museums Day; the last weekend of September for European Heritage Days; and 28 October, the national holiday. On top of that, entry is free on the first Sunday of the month, but only from 1 November to 31 March (corrected on 9 Oct 2026: the Ministry of Culture's museums directorate page names the first Sunday only, not the third). There is no free Sunday between April and October, which catches a lot of people out in summer.
Ministry of Culture, the official listUnder 25 and from the EU
If you are an EU citizen aged 25 or under, entry to state archaeological sites and museums is free all year on production of your ID or passport. Under 18s from outside the EU get the same. Worth knowing before you join a ticket queue.
Who qualifiesCorfu Town on foot
The old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and walking it costs nothing. The Liston arcade, the Spianada, the narrow kantounia lanes behind it, and the view back from the Old Fortress causeway. An afternoon of the best of Corfu for the price of a coffee.
The beaches
Every beach in Greece has free public access to the water. Sunbeds and umbrellas are charged on the organised stretches, but there is almost always a free section alongside, and the quieter west coast bays are free throughout.
Free admission dates confirmed against the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, checked 27 August 2026. Dates can change, so check before travelling.
