Tribute to the Corfiot collector and author Giorgos Ch. Sourtzinos
The Region of the Ionian Islands honours Giorgos Ch. Sourtzinos for decades of recording and bringing to light the history of Corfu, after he gave a large part of his collection of original prints (copper engravings, woodcuts, steel engravings, lithographs and photolithographs from the 15th to the 19th century, many showing Corfu and the Ionian) to the Regional Development Fund of the Ionian Islands. Many of the prints are already on show in the Region's building.

Oi Eleftheroi Poliorkimenoi (The Free Besieged) by Dionysios Solomos, readings with the San Giacomo Municipal Choir
The Society for Corfiot Studies and the Solomos Museum mark 200 years since the siege and exodus of Missolonghi with an evening on The Free Besieged, the great unfinished poem of Dionysios Solomos. Spyros Vergis, Machi Pouliasi and Christos Louvros read from the monumental edition of Iakovos Polylas; the San Giacomo Municipal Choir of Corfu opens the evening, sings between the readings and closes it. Solomos wrote the second and third drafts of the poem in his Corfu house, today the Solomos Museum, where his desk survives.

Protokyriako, procession of the relic of Saint Spyridon (first Sunday of November)
On the first Sunday of November Corfu carries the relic of its patron saint through the Old Town, in memory of the end of the plague of 1673. In 2025 the procession included clergy, authorities, five philharmonic bands, school pupils and scouts, with a prayer at the Old Fortress and a petition in front of the Palace.
Date follows the custom of the first Sunday of November, which in 2026 is 1 November; no 2026 announcement from the Metropolis was found yet. Feast of Saint Theodora Augusta and Saint Blaise at the Metropolitan Cathedral
Feast day of the cathedral, which keeps the relics of the Byzantine empress Saint Theodora Augusta in a silver casket; Saint Blaise, to whom the church is also dedicated, is honoured the same day. Her relics are carried in procession separately on the Sunday of Orthodoxy.

Petegoletsa, Corfu carnival street theatre on Tsiknopempti
On the evening of Tsiknopempti, actors playing housewives lean out of windows and balconies in the Old Town and trade comic gossip in the Corfiot dialect, a carnival custom close to commedia dell'arte. Songs and Ionian serenades accompany the show.

Corfu Carnival 2027, final Sunday: grand parade and burning of Sior Carnavalos

Procession of the relic of Saint Theodora Augusta on the Sunday of Orthodoxy
Every year on the Sunday of Orthodoxy the relic of Saint Theodora Augusta is carried in procession from the Metropolitan Church through the Old Town, after the Divine Liturgy. The procession was established in 1985 by Metropolitan Timotheos.
